October 2006:
Well, summer has come and gone, and we think it's time to bring you up to speed. First off, you
may have noticed that we cut back our shows dramatically this year. No, we have not broken up,
and yes, we still play! We have spent the better part of this year writing, and finishing the
songs for the next album. We are eagerly anticipating the release of the "Big Blocks and Shamrocks" split 7" with
labelmates The Charm City Saints. Again, this will
be a VERY LIMITED production release, so snap it up as soon as possible because it won't be around long!
In addition to that, the next BDC album should be out by late spring 2007!
And now for the BIG NEWS!!!! Michael and his wife Ali are expecting their first child at the end of
October! Yep, that's right. He is joining Nicky and Bill in fatherhood (VERY COOL!), so things are
slowing down a bit in the BDC camp while he takes time off waiting for the newest arrival to the
Belt household! Have no fear however! BDC is looking to be back in full swing by mid-November,
and we're looking forward to closing out 2006 on a strong note! Thanks again to all that have come out
to the shows recently, and for all the kind words. We'll see ya soon!
April 2006:
Yes, we know it's been a while since we
added to this. To keep everyone in the loop, here's what we've been up to:
As most of you know, we've been playing regularly in and out of town. It's been a blast (as always), and
we look forward to the shows coming up this spring and summer. We've been putting the finishing touches on the songs for the next disc, which we should start recording shortly, and hope to have out before the end of the year. We are also doing a split 7"(Yep, that's right! VINYL !!!!) with our pals and labelmates the Charm City Saints. This will be cool!!! Titled "Shamrocks and Big Blocks" it will feature 2 songs from each band! Pick up a copy as soon as it hits because it will be VERY limited production, and will feature a song from us that WILL NOT be on the next album! Anyway, on a different note, Michael has moved to the suburbs, Nicky bought ANOTHER Cadillac, Jim bought a beach house, and Bill is thinking about putting Lamborghini style doors on his Mustang, and is heading to Disneyland for a vacation. Well, I guess that's about it for now. Keep an eye out for us, and for the new recordings later this year! We'll see ya soon!!!
August 2005:
We are pleased to announce that Bill Bradshaw, formerly of Baltimore's own
Die Cheerleader Die, has joined us on drums. Bill brings a wealth of chops, as well as a passion for playing that you don't often see
these days. We're thrilled to have him on board, and look forward to recording the new disc with our new lineup.
June 2005:
It's been a couple of months since we've added to this, and as some of you may or may not
know, our drummer Mark is leaving the band at the end of July. There are no hard feelings, no lame "scene drama", or bad vibes whatsoever - it's because
his schedule is just too full to keep up with the direction that BDC is taking. Mark is a great guy and a class act, and we will definitely continue working
with him in various aspects. Chances are, he'll probably be joining us in the studio in a couple of months, to help produce the next disc.
Speaking of the next disc, We've cut back on our show schedule dramatically while we're putting the finishing touches on the remaining songs for it.
As soon as BDC finds a suitable replacement for Mark, we will DEFINITELY be picking the pace back up! Thanks to everyone for listening, coming to the shows,
buying the merch, and all around making this what rock and roll is all about.
April 2005:
Well, it's been awhile since we added to this, so hopefully this
will bring y’all up to speed. For starters, thanks to all for the kind words and reviews about the
Bad Timing CD.
It's pretty cool having people dig it from other parts of the globe as well!! We've been working on finishing up the songs for the follow up, and
should be ready to start recording by early summer. If you liked the first one, you're gonna LOVE this! We're still playing a lot of shows in the
Baltimore/DC area, and as promised, we have started hitting the road hard! Thanks to all that came out, hung out, supported, partied, and sang along.
We'll see you again soon!
December, 2004
WOW!! As those who know us know, this year has been a rollercoaster
ride for the Chrome! Despite a lineup change, court dates, hospitalizations, and other setbacks, we still managed to get the first
BDC release out! Many thanks to all for the kind words, and we're glad you're diggin' it! We also managed to survive the DC/Baltimore
barrage of band break-ups earlier this year. ( not to say we emerged unscathed) As always, we played a ton of cool shows, and met
a ton of cool people. Thanks again to all who supported!
SO, WHAT'S IN STORE??? Well, BDC will be hitting the studio
again early in the year , to begin work on the follow up to the "Bad Timing" CD. Also, we will be
hitting the road, bringin' the rock to the masses! That's about it for now! Have a safe and happy Holiday Season, and we'll
see ya in 2005!
November, 2004
FINALLY!! As most of you know, the long awaited Big
Daddy Chrome debut " Bad Timing " has been released! Thanks to all for the kind words, and we're glad you're diggin' it.
Also A MAJOR THANKS to all of our friends, family, and fans that came out to the Sidebar on the 9th and celebrated at
our CD release show! THAT ROCKED!! Also deepest thanks to all the bands that played, the Sidebar staff, and everyone
that helped us pull that one off.
As some of you have noticed, we have been keeping our show schedule down a bit while we concentrate on the songs for
the second release which we will start recording right after Christmas. A BIG boost comes from the fact that you can
now get the "Bad Timing" CD on Amazon.com. Of course, you can always get the disc from us at any of our shows.
On a different note: We will definitely be playing the Lighthouse shelter benefit at the Sidebar on Dec.18th. This is the
third year in a row that we have been asked to play, and it is quite an honor. This is for a great cause, and admission is
free with the donation of three canned food items. ( Or $10 if you can't come up with the three cans of food) Anyway,
that's what's going on in our world. Again THANKS for all the continued support, and we'll see ya soon. Have a
safe and happy Thanksgiving!
September, 2004
Well, it's been a wild couple of months for
the Chrome. As anyone who follows us undoubtedly noticed, we scaled back dramatically on live performances lately.
In August, Jim had a nasty run-in with a guardrail while riding his bike. Two broken ribs, and a punctured
lung will DEFINITELY put you out of commission for a while. Luckily, he has almost fully recovered, and is
BRINGING THE BOOM harder than ever! Guess there's something to be said about wearing a helmet. Many thanks
to all for the kind words and prayers during Jimbo's recovery.
We are back playing out, and have recently played several of the coolest shows in memory, with some of the coolest
bands you can see.
In other, unrelated news, Mike finally got off his ass, and updated the "Rides" section of the site, and added
pics of Nicky's '66 Chrysler (of 'Alone Again Blues' infamy), and Nicky's '73 Buick. Pics of Mike's '67 Coronet
project are coming soon.
Now for the BIG news: It's official. THE BDC CD RELEASE PARTY IS OCTOBER 9th at The Sidebar in Baltimore! This is no
B.S.! This is going to be a HUGE Rock and Roll party ! Yeah, we're calling in favors on this one! The long
awaited disc, new merchandise, and so much ROCK that it should be illegal in the lower 48! If anyone misses
this show, than they must either live in a cave, or be dead! This is going to ROCK!!! We'll see ya there!
July, 2004
Here it is, the middle of July, and it's
been a while since we added to this, and we've got a lot to tell ya! (some good, some bad) First the
good: THE CD IS DONE!!! We're just waiting to get the finished product to press, and when we have it,
you'll have it! Hopefully, within a month, we'll also have new merch, as well. We've also been playing
a ton of cool shows lately, and we're having a blast!
Now for the bad: As most of you who know us are aware, Craig is no longer in the Chrome. His back
surgery went well, but Craig just wasn't feeling it anymore. Naturally, we wish him all the best, and
ask that you please keep him in your prayers during his recovery. We're sure he'll be back, bringin'
the rock with another group of cats, before ya know it.
Now back to good: Money Mark from the Homeowners has joined the Chrome. It was almost natural, since
BDC played a TON of shows with his old band, and he already knew most of the songs, since he was
filling in for Craig, during Craig's surgery. We've also been writing a lot of new stuff, and it's on
the money! Kinda weird, but kinda cool how that worked out. Anyway, that's about it for now. We'll
keep ya posted with what's going on, and hopefully see you all soon!
December, 2003
Well, it's Christmas eve, and it's
about quarter after two in the morning. I have to get up in 6 hours to start Christmas day, but
it seemed like a good time to make an update. We just wanted to say it's been a banner year for the
band. We've played TONS of great shows with lots of great bands, to some really wonderful crowds.
We're nearly done with the CD, and we're talking about doing a week-long summer tour in 2004.
Craig went another year without killing anybody, Nicky bought yet another Cadillac, Jimbo continued to
buy more bass gear than any one man needs, and I continued talking about finishing the '67 Coronet, while sitting
on the couch and reading Mopar Muscle. Somewhere in the middle, we managed to squeeze in
a few band practices, a ton of shows, a few benefits, and what seemed like an eternity in the studio.
So, we just all wanted to say thanks to all of our friends and fellow bands, for helping us make
this the best year for the band yet! It's been a blast. We've got a whole new batch of songs,
and some new merch on the way, too. Merry Christmas, and happy new year to all of you. God bless.
-- Mike, for the whole band
September, 2003
We spent the weekend of August
30th and 31st in the studio, working on the new album. It went really well, and we're glad
we decided to go with Charlie as engineer, that man really knows his shit. We're not done
yet, but we're still shooting for a late-October release, if we can find a production company
that'll give us a quick enough turn around.
In other news, tickets for our September 30th show with The Vibrators (yes, the original,
legendary English band) are now available online, in advance, at:
MissionTix.
July, 2003
It's been a very productive month
for Big Daddy Chrome. We have some intense shows coming up, including an all-day festival
for a regional AIDS charity, as well as another show at the East Coast's best club, Nation.
We've also been playing a little less for the past several weeks, to gear up for studio (see
below). So, without further rambling, the good news is as follows:
Merch! Yup, that's right, shirts are gonna be done in a couple days, courtesy of the
Rude in DC folks. You'll be
able to order them from us, or you can buy them online through
Workers United Records,
using your credit card, or paypal account. Our stickers and buttons are also available for
ordering online through Workers United. You can also order the Songs of the Streets
comp, featuring Big Daddy Chrome, the Mobtown Hooligans, Fighting Chance, and tons of
other great bands!
Finally, a full-length album! We'll be going into Mount Royal Recordings with engineer
Charlie Jamison to record our debut full-length album at the end of August. Expect to
hear the usual round of crowd pleasers, plus some brand-spankin' new stuff we just finished
writing.
April, 2003
We have no idea what
this page says, but one would assume it's a press
release about the upcoming Workers
United Records comp. Either way, it's just damned cool. Can anybody out there read Russian?
March, 2003
Please go over to http://www.killermusic.net
and vote for Big Daddy Chrome to be in the "Killer Music in DC" fest this year.
Also, we're finally getting our asses into the studio this Saturday, March 8th. We'll be recording
the tracks for the upcoming
Workers United Records
comp, as well as plenty of additional tracks for our forthcoming LP. We'll try to throw some rough mixes
of the new stuff up over the weekend.
February, 2003
Very cool stuff going on. Big Daddy Chrome will be featured on a comp
disc to be released by the newly-formed
Workers United Records.
Workers United is the new label by Ayers, formerly of Baltimore hardcore legends Next Step Up.
His former label, Shadow Records, released discs from Next Step Up, Torn Apart, and many other
good bands. Other acts on the forthcoming comp are:
HUDSON FALCONS
SPITFIRES UNITED
FIGHTING CHANCE
MOBTOWN HOOLIGANS
DIE CHEERLEADER DIE
ALLEGED BRICKS
DEAD END BOYS
CRANKED UP!
& others
This release is going to be hot, and we'll keep ya'll updated here. The BDC tracks
will be brand new studio recordings, unavailable anywhere else. After we finish
the tracks for the comp, we're going to be going back into the studio to record a new
full-length disc, which will feature alternate versions of the comp songs, plus many more.
Also, for shits'n'giggles, we have a buddy icon for AOL Instant Messenger, for all you computer
nerds out there. Maryland just got hit with a hellacious snow storm, and Mike went stir-crazy.

January, 2003
We've been playing a lot of shows lately, hitting about 1 a week, and having a total
blast. We've shared the stage with some great local, regional, and national acts, and look
forward to continue with the kicking of asses and the taking of names in 2003. Later this
month, or early next month, we're planning on going into the studio to record a new demo,
with this new kick-ass lineup. We'll put updates here as events merit. Also, in the
name of shameless self-promotion, we have new stickers and buttons available. Stickers are
a buck, and buttons are fifty cents. e-mail us for
ordering info. We'll be doing t-shirts (black, naturally) as soon as we recoup a couple of the
bucks we'll be spending in the studio. Here's what the new stuff looks like. Don't worry,
the actual items are a lot better looking, these are just low-res versions.
